Went to Lake Biwa ～Hikone Castle

We went to Lake Biwa, the biggest lake in Japan. The view to the back from Biwako Ohashi Bridge is very beautiful. Hikone Castle, National Treasure, was built by the Ii family in the early Edo period. Naosuke Ii was born here who was assassinated in “Sakuradamongai-no-hen”. The army of the Ii family unified weapons (armor etc) in red, so they were called “Ii no Akazonae (Red defenses for Ii)”. They made a remarkable achievement as the strongest army.
